Panthers earn second shutout win of the season

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Davenport took to the road this weekend after playing their final home game last weekend. The Panthers went to East Lansing to face Michigan State University. The game was one-sided in favor of Davenport, with the final score showing 72-0. Davenport improves to 4-3 and holds a two-game win streak.

Michigan State came out with a determined and gritty squad at the Spartan Rugby complex. The Spartans attacked the Panthers with everything they had. Davenport withstood the pressure and looked to put the first points on the board, until a no look pass was intercepted and the Spartans were off to the races. Luckily, Megan Bird chased the player down and had a try-saving tackle. The Panthers regained possession and hammered the ball 80 meters down the pitch for a try by Bird. Davenport never let off the gas and scored at will from then on.

"The hard work and focus on quickness to the rucks all week at training defiantly paid off!" – Head coach Greg Teliczan.
