GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport men's tennis team improved to 2-0 this fall with a 4-2 win over Judson on Friday. The match was a last-minute addition to the schedule against the NAIA opponent.
The Eagles won the doubles point with wins at the two and three spot. Augustin Lestelle and Dimitri Ingrassia won 6-2 over
Remy Johansen and
Daniil Khitrou. Hugo La Hei and Marcus Berg won 6-1 over
Parker Keas and
Matt Leatherman.
Jonathan Bulmer and J.L. van Antwerpen won their match at one doubles by a score of 6-3.
The Panthers pulled out the match during singles. Johansen won in straight sets over Christopher Kerswell at one singles (6-2, 6-4). Bulmer at three singles won 6-1, 7-5 over Lestelle. Khitrou needed three sets at four singles but prevailed 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 over Ingrassia. Leatherman also dropped the first set but rallied to win (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) at five singles.
