GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The women's hockey team took to the ice for the first time this season. With the majority of the roster returning from last season, the core is the still there for the Panthers. Their opponents opening night were the Bearcats from McKendree University. The two have not met since the 2016-17 season, when the Bearcats took both meetings from DU.
McKendree's offense was present early and often against the Panthers. Alyssa Albee, Jacqueline Leone and Lara Wentz each scored two goals for the Bearcats, leading to their first win of the season.
