ALLENDALE, Mich. – The women's soccer team concluded their non-conference portion of their 2019 schedule. Unfortunately, the team lost to Grand Valley State by a score of 7-0. The Lakers have been a powerhouse in the GLIAC for years and this game showed why. The Panthers were held scoreless during the game and now sit 2-5 heading into conference play next week.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Davenport held the Lakers scoreless for the opening 15 minutes of play, but then a goal by Ava Cook opened up the flood gates. Grand Valley scored three goals in the first half, taking a 3-0 into halftime. The Panthers looked to claw back in the second half and take the home crowd out of the game, but the Lakers scored 28 seconds into the half. Grand Valley added four more goals in the second half, bringing their lead to 7-0. Davenport was held to zero shots on goal and just one shot, by Marissa woods, during the entirety of the game.

Davenport opens up GLIAC play with a pair of home games next week. The Panthers will host Purdue Northwest on Friday (October 11) and Parkside on Sunday (October 13).
