HOW IT HAPPENED
Davenport came out lighting it up from the floor to start the game, jumping out to a 14-4 lead following a three by Courtney McInerney. The Tritons got their feet underneath them and quickly tied up the game with 4:33 to play in the quarter 14-14. After a couple of buckets were traded, Davenport held a 21-19 lead heading into the second quarter.

The second quarter saw the Panthers pull away from the Tritons. Davenport outscored UMSL 18-10 in the quarter. Madison Jones hit a pair of free throws in the final minute of the half to give Davenport their largest lead yet.

Davenport was hanging on to their lead late in the third quarter, but a big run by the Tritons vanquished the Panthers lead. With 4:43 to go in the third quarter Emily Lange drilled two free throws, putting DU up 47-38. The Tritons went on a 15-2 run after that and held a 53-49 advantage heading into the final 10 minutes of regulation.

The fourth quarter started off with a plethora of offensive miscues by both teams. It took two minutes and 24 seconds before the first points were scored. Unfortunately, UMSL scored the opening seven points of the quarter and took a 60-49 lead with 6:11 to play. Davenport didn't go away quietly, quickly cutting the lead down to a one-possession game. Scaggs scored seven straight points for the Panthers, from 3:15 until 1:47 on the clock, to cut the lead down to two points. After the three by Scaggs with 1:47 to go in the game, the Panthers would be held scoreless down the stretch. The Tritons hit 3/6 free throws in the final two minutes to help secure the win.
