CALEDONIA, Mich. – Davenport faced their toughest opponent this season for their final game of the regular season, Grand Valley State University. The two teams played earlier in the season, but one could argue that the Lakers improved from the last time they met. Grand Valley ranked number two in the country at the time of the game and hadn't given up a single goal to a GLIAC foe all year. The Panthers were excited for the opportunity to take down the Lakers on DU's home turf, but the end result heavily favored the Lakers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Samantha Beckles and the rest of the Davenport defense knew they would have their hands full with trying to keep the ball out of the net, with the Lakers averaging just over four goals per game. Beckles was busy throughout the opening half, facing 10 shots. Six of those shots found their way into the goal and Davenport trailed 6-0 heading into the second half of play.
The Panthers stepped up to the challenge in the second half, giving up only one goal to the Lakers. Davenport wasn't able to get much going offensively, recording two shots in the game, one of which was on target.
Hannah Henney recorded the lone shot on goal and Beckles ended the day with nine saves.
