Panthers finish their road trip with a 21-7 win over Alderson Broaddus

PHILIPPI, W.V. – Davenport continued their opening weekend with a non-conference game against Alderson Broaddus in West Virginia. The Panthers bounced back and controlled the entire game against the Battlers. The offense was firing on all cylinders for the Panthers and the defense held the Battlers to only 13 shots in the game. Aaliyah Miller, Ryann Deuel, and Taylor Ries all had six or more points in the game to lead the way for Davenport.

How It Happened
The opening 10 minutes of play were back and forth between the Panthers and Battlers. Alderson Broaddus scored the first goal of the game, then DU responded with two goals to take a 2-1 lead. The Battlers responded with a game-tying goal and Davenport countered with two of their own to take a 4-2 lead. Alderson Broaddus scored two goals and the game was tied at 4-4 after 11 minutes of play. The Panthers controlled the remainder of the period, scoring eight unanswered goals. Miller got things kicked off the run, then Christine Steffes got on the board, following by Reilly Noble. After that, Kenzie Warren and Brenna Knoll each scored to make it 9-4. To end the half Ries scored twice and Miller added a goal.
 
Davenport continued to play with their foot on the gas pedal, opening the second period by scoring four straight goals. Miller couldn't be stopped, as she scored five goals in the period alone. The Battlers scored their first goal of the second period 16:48 into the period, but could only muster up three goals against the Davenport defense. The Panthers ended the game by scoring three straight goals, one from Deuel and two from Miller.
