Panthers drop 4-3 decision to Southeastern

ORLANDO, Fla. - For the second straight day, the Panthers were on the verge of a win only to fall 4-3 at the USTA National Campus. On Thursday, it was Southeastern out of Lakeland, Florida and a member of the NAIA who got the narrow win over Davenport. The match featured the return of Vladislava Shumilova to the lineup after having to leave the court a few days ago. She won her singles match at the four spot over Priscila Baptista of the Fire. She also teamed up with Sophie Gossett to win at two doubles by a score of 6-1 over Baptista and Mia Dunagan.

Adeline Nelson and Hannah Murphy pulled out a 6-4 win at one doubles over Beatrice Letizia and Sharienne Ricardo to earn the one point at doubles for the Panthers. The Fire had a strong showing at the top of the singles lineup. Ricardo, Letizia and Angelique Myrtil each won for Southeastern. Nelson had a battle at one singles against Ricardo. Ricardo took the first set 6-3 and then Nelson commanded the second set at 6-1. Ricardo gave the Fire a big point with a 6-3 win in the deciding third set. Gossett earned a win at five singles in three sets (6-2, 1-6, 6-0) over Gabby Marshall.
