GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Making both its 2019 home and GLIAC debuts, the Davenport University women's volleyball team was tasked with Michigan Tech in head coach,
Brian Netzler's, first match inside the DU Student Center. The Huskies scored the final three points in the first set to take it before the Panthers came back from nine down to take the second and even the match at one set apiece. However, Michigan Tech asserted its will in the third and fourth sets winning them by six points and nine points, respectively.

(25-27, 26-24, 19-25, 16-25)
- In the opening stanza, the Panthers first lead didn't come until the 37th point was tallied and it was 19-18.
- The Huskies then took the lead back at 24-23, DU called a timeout and bounced back with two-straight points for their final lead of the set, 25-24. That's when MTU rattled off those three points in a row.
- In the second set, Michigan Tech dominated most of it with the first four points and a lead as big as nine at 16-7.
- However, Davenport answered that opening onslaught with 15 of the ensuing 21 points and had the score knotted up at 22 points each way.
- The end of that run until the end of the set saw the Panthers outscore the Huskies by six, 8-2.
- In the third, Davenport's final advantage came at 17-16, but it didn't come easy as there were 14 ties and nine lead changes prior to that point.
- Once it was 17-16 in favor of the home team, the visitors ended the set on a 9-2 spurt and had a 2-1 match lead.
- 28 points into the fourth set, the Panthers trailed by just two, 15-13, and that came after a 5-1 run by the hosts.
- However, the Huskies proceeded to score five points in a row as part of a 7-1 run and took all the air out of the gym.

Hayley Kreiger had a big night on the edge with 20 kills, nine blocks, eight digs, one assist, and a service ace.

Kenzy Corstange (pictured) also reached double-digit kills with 10 and did so with just one error on 24 swings for a .375 hitting percentage.

Sami White and
Grace Hayes both notched 20 or more assists for the second match this season with 23 and 21, respectively.
- Lastly on offense,
Emmy Webb notched two of the team's five aces.
- On the defensive side of the ball, Davenport's leaders included
Allisyn Grams (10 blocks) and
Nina Rudnitsky (29 digs).
NEXT UP
- Davenport will stay at home on Saturday for a 2 p.m. first serve against Northern Michigan. The Panthers and Wildcats already squared off in a non-conference affair on Sept. 13 and DU took it in straight sets.
