MIDLAND, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team could not capture a point on Saturday afternoon at Saginaw Valley State in a 7-0 loss to the Cardinals. Davenport currently has a 1-3 record and are 0-3 in the GLIAC. SVSU has a 1-2 record and is the same in the GLIAC.
The Cardinals captured a point in doubles by winning all three matches.
Willemien Coetzee and
Adeline Nelson along with
Danica Malan and
Emma Philippus both lost 6-4.
Sophie Gossett and
Lillian Mouw fell 6-2 at two doubles.
The Cardinals won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. The biggest battle was at two singles. Nelson squared off with Joanne Gao and Gao won 6-0 in the first set. Nelson returned the favor 6-4 in the second set. The super tiebreaker saw Gao pull it off 12-10.
