Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Finishes Play in Pennsylvania

CLARION, Pa. - The Davenport women's volleyball team wrapped up its play in Clarion's Tony Banner Memorial Tournament on Saturday, but was unable to find the win column as it did in the season opener. The Panthers dropped a pair of 3-1 decisions to the likes of Lake Erie and Pitt-Johnstown.

Lake Erie 3, Davenport 1
- Both of the first two sets were tied at 24-24, but Lake Erie scored the final two points to seal the victory in each of them.

- Davenport led by as many as four in the first set, 17-13, and aside from scores of 2-1 and 3-2, the Storm's next advantage didn't come until 22-21. Lake Erie ended the set on a 9-4 run.

- The Panthers notched the first point of the second set, but the Storm answered with nine of the next 12 to go up by five, 9-4. Davenport then rebounded with seven-straight points and were up by two, 11-9. Following nine ties, Lake Erie made it a 2-0 match lead.

- The third set's fifth and final tie came on the 20th total point before Davenport took over with five-consecutive points as part of a 7-1 sprint. After that, the Panthers lead was never smaller than four before the set victory.

- However, in the fourth set, Lake Erie notched its best hitting percentage of the day, .382, and Davenport churned out its worst, .105.

- The Panthers were led by a trio of hitters with double-digit kills, Sami White and Grace Hayes each with 20+ assists, Kendra DeJonge and Megan Herr each with three block assists, five players with at least 10 digs apiece, and Kenzy Corstange (four service aces).

Pitt-Johnstown 3, Davenport 1
- Davenport dropped a nail-biter of a first set, 26-24, despite its best hitting percentage of the match at .184. UPJ tied its best offensive output of the match with a clip of .286.

- The second set's score, 25-23, was just as tight as it suggests, but the Panthers were able to pull it out and gather some momentum heading into the third set.

- Davenport seemed to have a choke hold on the third set, 24-19, but Pitt-Johnstown rattled off eight of the final nine points to take the air out of the gym and a 2-1 match advantage.

- The Panthers had just two leads in the fourth and final set and they came at 2-1 and 3-2.

- Davenport's leaders included Corstange (nine kills and four aces), DeJonge (nine kills and three blocks), White (18 assists), Emmy Webb (three blocks), and Nina Rudnitsky (17 digs).
