Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. - The spring break trip started off with the toughest match of the season on Sunday as the women's tennis team squared off with fifth-ranked Nova Southeastern at the USTA National Campus. The Sharks smelled blood in the waters and beat the Panthers 7-0 to improve to 8-0 overall. DU is now 2-14 overall.
The doubles portion of the match saw the Sharks win three matches and yield just five games.
Emma Philippus and
Sophie Gossett at three doubles were no match for Isabella Lowrey and Ivana Djordjevic falling 6-0.
Adeline Nelson and
Vladislava Shumilova had the best chance at getting a win at one doubles but fell 6-4 to Daniela Obando and Tingting Pei.
Danica Malan and
Willemien Coetzee dropped a 6-1 score at two doubles against Diane Follin-Arbelet and Karolina Snita.
The singles portion saw the Sharks win all six matches in straight sets. Gossett put up the greatest fight falling 6-3, 6-2 at five singles against Caitlyn Khan. Nelson and Coetzee each lost 6-1, 6-1 to their opponents. Shumilova lost 6-0, 6-3 at four singles against Lowrey.
