ORLANDO, Fla. - The Davenport men's tennis team squared off with Webber International on Thursday under somewhat chilly conditions in the state of Florida with temps in the high 50's. The Panthers were seeking their eighth win of the season and picked up it by a final of 5-2 against the Warriors. Davenport stands at 8-3 overall while Webber International is 0-7 overall.
The Panthers were able to win all three doubles matches and earn a point. The Warriors were not able to field a tandem at three doubles. The other two matches were 6-4 wins.
Juan-Louis van Antwerpen and
Juan Jose Pino Contoleon at one doubles improved their doubles record to 7-2.
Remy Johansen and
Jonathan Bulmer at two doubles also improved to 7-2 as a duo this season.
J.L. van Antwerpen improved to 9-3 in singles this season with a 6-4, 6-2 win at one singles over Cyrille De Hollain. It was also van Antwerpen's 38th career singles win ranking eighth at DU.
Daniil Khitrou won his match at three singles over Matthew Alexander. Alexander was trailing 6-0, 3-1 and retired.
Bobby Tarrant made his debut at five singles and won 6-3, 6-3 over Jose Cordero.Â
