Panthers downed by Hillsdale
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport women's tennis team welcomed Hillsdale College on Saturday in a regional matchup at MVP SportsPlex. The visiting Chargers handed the Panthers their third straight loss to start the spring season by a final of 6-1. DU is now 2-11 overall in 2019-20.
Hillsdale moved to 3-0 with the win and got all three doubles wins.
Willemien Coetzee and
Danica Malan had a battle against Hannah Cimpeanu and Sarah Hackman at one doubles before falling 7-6 (7-2). The other two matches both were 6-4 in favor of the Chargers.
Coetzee recorded the one point for Davenport at one singles. She had a straight sets win over Cimpeanu by scores of 6-3, 7-6 (7-1). Malan despite a loss at two singles still battled winning the first set before dropping the next two (2-6, 6-2, 10-5).
