Women's Basketball Opens Season at Northwood

The much-anticipated season opener for the Davenport women's basketball team is just one day away as the Panthers will travel to Northwood for a 6 PM tip at Riepma Arena in Midland on Friday. The Timberwolves and Panthers will also play again on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 3 PM in Midland in a new format created by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The GLIAC format will be where a team will host both weekend games against one team as opposed to the Thursday-Saturday slate in the past where you would play a different opponent each day. Davenport for instance will not host Northwood this season in what typically would be a home-and-home series.

This will be the eighth all-time meeting against the Timberwolves who own a 6-1 advantage over the Panthers. The last meeting happened on February 13, 2020 with NU claiming a 75-70 win in Grand Rapids. Alli Keyser had a monster game with 28 points going 10-of-15 from the floor including 5-of-9 from the arc for the Timberwolves. Madison Jones scored 17 points and grabbed seven boards for the Panthers. DU shot 48.2 percent from the floor.
