HUDSONVILLE, Mich. - The Davenport Women's D1 ACHA hockey team took on Grand Valley in the first of two games over the weekend. The Panthers suffered their first loss of the season on the road in a rough 7-2 battle with
Courtney Mulligan and
Julia Gaynor leading the charge.

After a slow first period, the Panthers cut down the Laker lead with
Courtney Mulligan and
Ashley Cutcher scoring both of the Panthers' goals. Grand Valley then took advantage of the numerous chances close to the net and furthered their lead to 6-2 before Marlee Sprott tucked away her last of three goals for the Lakers in the third period.
After just two games,
Courtney Mulligan leads Davenport with five goals and six points on the season closely followed by freshman
Ashley Cutcher with two goals of her own. Between the pipes,
Julia Gaynor stopped 34 out of the 41 shots that came her way playing all 60 minutes.

The Panthers have a chance to answer back with a win on home ice against the Lakers on October 23
rd at 6:30pm before hosting the University of Rhode Island for a back-to-back series over Halloween weekend.
