GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's ACHA Division I hockey team improved to 5-2 overall and won for the third straight time with a 10-3 win over Oakland on Thursday night in the Good Luck Duck series.
Austin Thompson went off against the Grizzlies with a career-high six goals and two assists. He entered the game with three goals in the team's first six games. He scored twice in the first period, three times in the second period, and once more in the third period. He scored twice on the power play including the game's first goal at 5:51 of the first from
Jacob Boucha.
Noah Hippolyte-Smith finished the game with three goals and one assist.
Zachary Currie assisted on four goals.
Dallas Hainley had the other goal for the Panthers. It was his first goal of the season.
The big movement after a 3-1 lead through 20 minutes was a six-goal second period for DU. They finished with 60 shots on goal compared to 28 for Oakland. DU finished 2-for-3 on the power play and Oakland went 1-for-4.
Alexander Rogers stopped 25 of those shots in net for Davenport.
The two teams will play in Rochester tonight at 8:55 p.m. from the Onyx Ice Arena.
