Panthers have rough time on the road at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. - In a battle of top teams in the GLCHL, the Bulldogs of Adrian College had a bigger bite on their home ice with a 10-2 win on Thursday. The No. 7 Bulldogs entertained the No. 22 Panthers in a clash for supremacy in the conference early this season.

Adrian jumped ahead early and kept their foot on the gas leading 4-0 after the first period. Samuel Spaedt started things off at 4:23 on the power play with his 12th goal of the season. Matthew Dicesare followed that at 8:45 with his fifth of the season for a 2-0 lead.

Dicesare and Spaedt each scored again on the power play in the period as the Bulldogs took full advantage of penalties by the Panthers. Austin Thompson notched DU's first goal at 1:37 unassisted in the second period. Tyler Fyfe scored for the Bulldogs at 7:01 and Spaedt made it a hat trick at 15:55 on yet another power play goal for the 6-1 lead after two periods.

Adrian had four different goal scorers in the final period including Connor Smith who increased his team-leading goal total to 16 at 18:53. Nathan Nickelson scored on the power play for DU at 13:27 from Zachary Currie when they went on a five-minute advantage after a major boarding penalty by Alec Daman. Daman also received a 10-minute game misconduct.

Nathan Gauthier stopped 46 shots for the Panthers and Noah Decottignies made 23 saves for Adrian.
