GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The men's D2 hockey program got a signature win on Saturday with a 4-2 comeback against Miami (Ohio) at Patterson Ice Center. The Panthers lost a lopsided game on Friday but quickly erased that bad taste and got after the RedHawks.
It didn't start out rosy for the Panthers as they trailed 2-0 just 7:59 into the first period. Andrew Lawrence scored his seventh of the season on the power play from Hunter Wallace. Will Klinge followed minutes later with his fifth goal of the season from Torsten Lee, who leads ACHA D2 in points and notched his 24th assist already this season.
Jack Sanko cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 10:25 mark from
Jeff Rahilly and
Adam Hulsey and that's where it stood going into the first intermission. The second period was all Panthers scoring the final three goals of the game.
Luke Nickolaus tied it up at 1:46 from
Alexander Brown and
Ryan Nicholson. Rahilly scored the game-winning goal at 16:53 on the power play from
Tyler Majewski and Sanko.
Arian Starin added an insurance marker at 19:00 from
