HOUGHTON, Mich. - Playing in its second GLIAC Tournament semifinal in four seasons, the fifth-seeded Davenport University women's volleyball team was tasked with top-seeded and 20th-ranked Michigan Tech on the Huskies' home floor. The Panthers handed the Huskies their first lost set in nearly a month (Oct. 26 at Minnesota Duluth) in the first set before the home team won the next three to move on to the finals and face Ferris State on Sunday.
"Not the outcome we wanted today, but the loss doesn't doesn't dim the light on a great season with this team," said head coach,
Brian Netzler. "I'm incredibly proud of our seniors and the legacy they have created for this program."
Davenport's season comes to an end with an overall record of 16-12 marking the first time the Panthers have finished at least four matches above the .500 mark in back-to-back campaigns since 2013-14. The Panthers won eight of their final 11 matches overall and six of their last eight away from home. On the other side, Michigan Tech has won seven matches in a row, 19 of its last 20 and will play in the GLIAC Tournament finals for the third season in a row.
FINAL: Michigan Tech 3, Davenport 1 (-16, 14-25, 21-25, 25-27)
RECORDS: Michigan Tech 24-5; Davenport 16-12
