Zachary Currie had a historic night on Saturday at Patterson Ice Center in a 12-2 win over Eastern Michigan. Currie, the hometown boy, scored a program single-game record seven goals in the convincing win over the Eagles. Davenport improved to 32-1 all-time against EMU and have held the Eagles to two goals or less in 13 of the last 16 meetings.
Currie opened the scoring at 4:19 of the first period and then scored again at 15:16 of the period. He was just getting started with two more goals in the second period and then three more consecutively in the final 5:30 of the contest.
Sebastien Doucet chipped in with a goal and three assists.
Robert McLaughlin filled the goal scoring column twice.
Austin Thompson had a five-point game with two goals and three assists.
Noah Hippolyte-Smith was credited with four assists.
Stephen Smoody got into the action with three assists.Â
Davenport finished 3-for-6 on the power play while Eastern Michigan was 1-for-9. The final shots were Davenport in front 60-27 with
Alexander Rogers making 25 saves for the Panthers. DU is now 8-3 overall this season.Â
