BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - Facing Ferris State for the second time in five days and third time this season, the Davenport University women's soccer team came up short against the Bulldogs, 5-0, in the quarterfinal round of the GLIAC Tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers finish with an overall record of 4-14-1 while the No. 24 Bulldogs (13-3-3) move on to face third-seeded Saginaw Valley State on Friday in the semifinals.
Ferris State scored goals in the first, 17th, 18th, 65th, and 72nd minutes while out-shooting Davenport 29-7, including 14-2 in shots on goal, and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
For the Panthers, their seven shots came from four different players including
Haley Diekevers (3 shots, 1 SOG),
Natalia Casiello (2 shots, 1 SOG),
Ellie Fisher (1 shot), and
Filippa Struxsjoe (1 shot).
In goal for Davenport,
Gabriana Bennecke tied her career high in saves with nine on 14 shots faced.
