The calendar has flipped to February and the women's basketball team will be hosting Lake Superior State this weekend. The Panthers dropped a pair of hotly-contested games on the road at Ashland last weekend and will look to get back in the win column against a 1-8 LSSU squad. This is going to be the fifth and sixth meetings between the schools which have split the previous games at 2-2. The teams have played once per season since DU joined the GLIAC. The Panthers had a two-game win streak snapped last season on Jan. 2 in Sault Ste. Marie by a final score of 63-57. Davenport struggled to find their shooting touch at 33.3 percent from the floor but improved outside the arc going 8-of-22 (.364).
Toni Grace and
Madison Jones led the team with 18 points. Grace shot 50 percent (7-of-14) and also grabbed three rebounds in 39 minutes.
Courtney McInerney grabbed eight boards and scored five points. LSSU was led by Claire Radtke with 17 points (5-of-7 3FG). Mattison Rayman notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds in just 28 minutes. The Lakers shot 34.5 percent from the floor and were also 8-of-22 beyond the arc. They made 12 more free throws than the Panthers.
