GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team was on the brink of beginning the GLIAC with a win, but narrowly lost 4-3 to Michigan Tech on Friday.
Neither team could field a full lineup which made the matchups more intense. The one doubles was not played and so each doubles match earned a point instead of the normal best 2-of-3 earns a point.
Kailyn Skogmo and
Willemien Coetzee earned a win at three doubles by a score of 6-4 over Neva Manas and Marina Fernandez.
Coetzee at one singles had the swing match which could have given DU the win. She won 7-6 in the first set but then fell 6-4, 6-3 against Ivona Gorgioski.
Isabella Carofano picked up a win at two singles over Lauren Opalewski by scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.Â
