MIDLAND, Mich. - The men's tennis team will be playing in the fifth-place match tomorrow in the GLIAC Tournament after a 4-0 loss in the quarterfinals against third-seeded Wayne State on Friday. The Panthers will take on Ashland either 9 AM indoors or 11 AM outdoors depending on the weather.
The Warriors won 7-0 during the regular season and ended today's match without giving up a point as well. The doubles best two-of-three format saw Wayne State win at two and three doubles to earn one point.
Juan Jose Pino Contoleon and
Daniil Khitrou made it very close at two doubles falling 7-5 to Donovan Nguyen and David Solar.
Matt Leatherman and
Frank Piana III at three doubles was beaten 6-3 against Daniel Grey and Joe Steele.
Dom Spicer at one singles picked up a point with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Juan-Louis vanAntwerpen for DU. Khitrou at three singles went three sets and forced a third set. Luke Laws took the first set 6-1 and Khitrou won 6-0 in the second set. Laws won the match going 6-4 in the third set. The fourth point was at six singles as Nguyen beat
Bernard Anderson of DU by scores of 6-2, 6-2.
