KENOSHA, Wis. - The Davenport University women's soccer team struck first on Sunday thanks to a goal from
Haley Diekevers (pictured) in the fourth minute, her third in as many matches and team-leading fourth of the season. However, Parkside answered nearly an hour in game time later in the 60th minute and that's where the score would stand when the final buzzer sounded. Next up for the Panthers is their regular season finale and Senior Day showdown with No. 6 Grand Valley State on Friday at 7 p.m.
With 12 career goals to her name in just 35 matches played, Diekevers is now tied with Katherine Steiner for ninth in program history. Sunday, the sophomore (4 shots, 1 shot on goal) was one of six Panthers with a shot including
Citlali Luna (2 shots),
Izabelle Olsson (1 shot on goal),
Gabby Scholten (1 shot on goal),
Madison Mohr (1 shot on goal), and
Bianka Batagelj (1 shot).
Overall, Parkside fired 14 shots to Davenport's 10, but the shots on goal category was deadlocked at 4-4. In goal,
