POMONA, Calif. - The 2022 Conference Commissioners Association has announced their Men's Soccer All-America Team in Division II. A total of 39 student-athletes from 29 institutions are represented on the three All-America Teams in 2022.
Athletic Communications personnel from NCAA Division II schools and conferences sponsoring men's soccer selected the D2CCA All-America Team. The process begins at the regional level with all First Team All-Region picks advancing to the national ballot. This marks the 16th year that teams have been selected since the All-America program began in 2006.
Redshirt senior forward
Matt Whelan (Cork, Ireland) was named Second Team All-America as one of the top eight forwards in the nation. He joins Brogan Shrimpton as a First Team All-America in 2017 to be named as All-America in the Division II era for the Panthers.
Whelan was named First Team All-GLIAC for the third time in 2022. He tied for the GLIAC lead with 16 goals and was fifth in Division II in total goals at the end of the regular season. Whelan also ranked seventh in shots per game nationally and had six multi-goal games in 2022. He leaves DU with 43 career goals to rank third all-time and his 16 goals this season are sixth-most in DU history.
