GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team is looking to gain some momentum heading into 2023 as they host Cornerstone on Friday, Dec. 30 at 1:00 PM. This will be the 34th meeting all-time with the Panthers holding a 24-9 advantage. The teams have played sparingly since DU's move to NCAA Division II, but DU has won 11 straight against the Golden Eagles dating back to the 2013-14 campaign. The teams collided last year on the same date on Dec. 30 with Davenport claiming a 74-57 victory at the DU Student Center. DU used a big third quarter to propel them to the sizable victory. They outscored CU 25-9 in the third quarter and turned a three-point halftime deficit into a 53-40 lead. Cornerstone led for 17:46 in the first half and had a nine-point lead with 5:52 left in the second quarter. DU used an 11-0 run to start the third quarter and built their lead up to 13 points heading into the fourth quarter.
Lillee Gustafson led the team with 15 rebounds.
Scout Nelson had a career-high nine assists and also had six rebounds. Gustafson completed a double-double with 10 points and also blocked two shots.

Embry-Riddle 76, Davenport 70 (Dec. 16)
The freshmen duo of
Alexa Kolnitys and
Ellie Toney scored 35 of Davenport's 70 points in a 76-70 loss at Embry-Riddle on Friday in the first game of the ERAU Holiday Classic. Kolnitys scored a career-high 18 points eclipsing her previous high of nine points. She went 7-of-9 from the floor including 4-of-5 from the arc and also had three assists and three steals. Toney finished with 17 points and a team-high seven rebounds to go with her three assists and three steals.
DU's leading scorer and rebounder
Lillee Gustafson was hampered by foul trouble and limited to just 19 minutes. She finished with eight points and two rebounds. The Panthers had a good shooting day with a season-high 13 three's and 54.3 percent from the floor. The telling tale was ultimately in the second quarter when the Eagles outscored the Panthers 17-6. DU managed to shoot 2-of-10 from the floor in the quarter. DU also will need to solve their free throw woes going 7-of-16 in the loss.

Saint Leo 84, Davenport 67 (Dec. 17)
DU dropped their second game at the Embry-Riddle Holiday Classic against Saint Leo. Sophomore
Lillee Gustafson set a career-high and tied for the sixth-most points in a game at Davenport with 35 points. She shattered her previous high of 19 points set earlier this season against Northwood. Gustafson also grabbed 12 rebounds for her seventh double-double of her career and fifth this season. She finished 13-of-18 from the floor and was 9-of-14 at the free throw line. Gustafson scored 12 points in the first quarter, zero points in the second quarter, 10 in the third quarter, and 13 in the fourth.
Lauren Wood finished with a season-high 12 points and went 4-of-5 from the arc. She played in her third game of the season and is now 7-of-8 total from deep. Nelson added eight points, two assists and two steals.
Alexa Kolnitys played all 40 minutes and finished with three points, three rebounds, and four assists.
