GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team welcomes No. 3 Grand Valley State on Thursday to the DU Student Center for a 6:00 PM tip. Davenport will be looking to pull off the upset and get their first win in the series. These two teams played back on Jan. 10 in Allendale with the Lakers prevailing 73-38. The Panthers scored 12 second-half points as GVSU pulled away. The Panthers limited the Lakers to 36.4 percent shooting from the floor but DU mustered just 24.5 percent going 2-of-23 from the floor over the final 20 minutes.
Lillee Gustafson scored six points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
Toni Grace came off the bench and led the team with 12 points going 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
Ryan Harvey got the start and scored a career-high 11 points in 25 minutes.

Toni Grace will be playing in her 100th career game on Thursday. The Fishers, Indiana native has turned in a very solid four years for the Panthers. She has scored 1,354 points (13.7 per game) and has a streak of 50 straight games entering the scoring column. Grace has scored in double figures in 73 career games including 17 this season. She has 13 20-point games in her career with three this season.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
Grand Valley State is 21-1 overall and 14-1 in the conference having won 16 in a row. The Lakers have risen to No. 3 in NCAA Division II with their only loss of the season coming Dec. 2 at home against Saginaw Valley State (51-45). The Lakers have played four times in the month of February with wins over Lake Superior State, Ferris State, Northern Michigan, and Michigan Tech. The battle of the Lakers on Feb. 3 jumps out as GVSU won 78-21. LSSU scored just one point in the first quarter and never hit double digits in any quarter. LSSU shot 17.8 percent overall and were 0-of-14 from behind the arc. GVSU shot 49.2 percent overall and were 6-of-17 from the arc. This past week at home the Lakers beat NMU (50-42) and MTU (61-45). GVSU scored 38 of their 61 points in the paint against the Huskies. Ellie Droste led the Lakers with 19 points. Rylie Bisballe scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the double-double. Emily Spitzley leads the team in scoring at 13 points per game. Bisballe is averaging 12.6 points and Droste is averaging 11.6 points. The Laker defense has been their calling card allowing just 47.3 points per game and 32.7 percent shooting from the floor.
