GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team will be entering a four-game home stretch beginning this Thursday with a 6:00 PM tip-off against Michigan Tech. The Panthers will then have Senior Day on Saturday when they host Northern Michigan at 1:00 PM. Three seniors will be honored including
Loni Sales,
Toni Grace, and
Kenzie Wilkinson. The Panthers dropped a pair of road games last week at Ferris State and Lake Superior State. The Lake Superior State game was the third game this season that Davenport went into overtime.
MICHIGAN TECH NOTES
• The two teams played earlier this season back on Jan. 22 in Houghton at the SDC Gymnasium with the Huskies winning 86-75. DU had their highest scoring quarter of the season with 32 points in the fourth of that contest.
Toni Grace led the team with 25 points and also had five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Ajai Simmons contributed 16 points and five rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench. Ellie Mackay led the Huskies with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Rondorf added 20 points and was 7-of-10 from the field.
• MTU has dropped three of four heading into the week. They fell 93-89 in overtime at Purdue Northwest last Thursday and 81-67 at Parkside last Saturday. Sara Dax led the team with 15 points.
NORTHERN MICHIGAN NOTES
• The two teams squared off earlier this season back on Jan. 20 at the Berry Events Center in Marquette. NMU won the defensive battle 59-45 as the Panthers scored just 18 points in the first half.
Toni Grace scored 14 points and went 8-of-9 at the foul line. DU managed to shoot just 12.5 percent (2-of-16) from behind the arc. NMU got 16 points from Elizabeth Lutz and 14 points from Madigan Johns. They held the team's leading scorer Makaylee Kuhn to eight points on 3-of-8 shooting. The Wildcats connected on nine triples but did commit 22 turnovers.
• The Wildcats are in the midst of a five-game losing streak heading into this week after that win over Davenport. They fell 53-52 in the closest game during that stretch last Saturday in Hammond, Ind. Kuhn led the team with 12 points but fouled out in 20 minutes. The Wildcats also shot just 2-of-11 in the fourth quarter.

TONI GRACE
● The senior guard is winding down her four-year career with the Panthers with six games remaining. She currently ranks third all-time with 351 free throws, fourth with a 13.8 scoring average, fourth with a 79.4 free throw percentage, eighth with 1,338 points, and 10th with 135 three-pointers. Grace is right on the heels of Kristi Boehm (2007-11) who is seventh with 1,340 points and is likely to move into sixth place this week also passing Jeanette Woodberry (2006-08). She has scored in double figures in nine straight games including three games over 20 points. Grace had a season-high 25 points against Michigan Tech back on Jan. 22.
SCOUT NELSON
● The junior guard has been a warrior for the Panthers averaging 31.8 minutes per game in her career, which ranks first all-time at Davenport. She also is seventh all-time with a 2.9 assists per game average. Nelson scored a season-high 18 points on Jan. 31 against Lake Superior State and then scored 13 points against them on the road last Saturday.
