ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Davenport men's wrestling team was able to send
Manuel Leija to the NCAA nationals and he made history as the first Panther to compete at the highest level. Leija was able to wrestle twice in the 125-pound bracket but his experience ended with a pair of setbacks. He fell to Josh Portillo of Nebraska-Kearney by major decision 12-2 in his first bout and then Paxton Creese of St. Cloud State won 9-4. Creese was the fifth-ranked wrestler in the country at this weight class and Portillo is ninth nationally.
