Box Score MIDLAND, Mich. - The Davenport women's tennis team ended a 13-match losing streak in conference play on Friday with a 5-2 win at Saginaw Valley State. The win improves the Panthers to 6-15 overall and 1-4 in the GLIAC. It was also the team's second road win of the season. The Cardinals fall to 5-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Panthers were able to capture all three doubles matches to earn a point.
Willemien Coetzee and
Vladislava Shumilova were 6-1 winners at one doubles over Nicole Johnson and Sara Neves. The second doubles match was a little closer with a 6-2 win by DU's
Charlotte Zhuwakini and
Louise Hosking defeating Chelsea Dzenga and Joanne Gao. The closest result was 7-5 at three doubles for
Isabella Carofano and
Kumiko Yamaguchi over Elizabeth Stuart and Adiya Young.
Coetzee was also victorious at one singles by scores of 6-1, 6-1 over Neves. Carofano at two singles was able to defeat Emma Charlton 6-3, 6-0. Shumilova at three singles cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Gao. Dzenga of SVSU won 6-2, 6-1 at four singles over Hosking. Yamaguchi at five singles picked up a 6-4, 7-5 win over Johnson. Stuart of SVSU won 6-1, 6-1 at six singles over
Sophie Jackson.
