CALEDONIA, Mich. - Davenport played against Iowa Central Community College for their fourth match of the 15's season on September 24th. The final score against the Tritons was 42-6 leaving them undefeated for another week. Mat De Villiers secured the first try and conversion of the match, making sure to put the Panthers on the scoreboard. The first half of the game the Panthers focused on putting points on the board, and maintaining the point differential starving their opponents of possession. After halftime, their strategy seemed to change, focusing more on strong defensive moves and driving Iowa Central C.C. back, preventing them from scoring. This created pressure that allowed the Tritons to make mistakes for Davenport to capitalize on. Jonathan Kutzli, a scrum-half, made some serious tackles resulting in Iowa Central C.C. losing the ball. Their strong defense allowed them to really focus on getting their offensive lines together and allowing them to continue to maintain their winning score. Another noteworthy player in the match was Luke Stratford with his speed and ability to make breaks despite the opponent's strong defense. Overall, the Panthers season has consisted of intensity, strategy, and skill. It is no surprise that they have been successful this season, it's all the hard work they are putting in on and off the pitch.
