GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport struck first against No. 6 Central Missouri on Sunday's home opener thanks to a goal from freshman, Citlali Luna (pictured), in the 34th minute, but the Jennies took over after that. UCM went on to score three unanswered goals to defeat DU, 3-1, and hand the Panthers their second loss of the season.

Davenport (1-2-1) was out-shot by Central Missouri (3-0-1), 14-10, including 10-4 in the second half, while the shots on goal were even at 5-5. The Panthers notched four corner kicks to the Jennies' zero in the first 45 minutes before the visitors tallied five to the home team's zero after halftime.

The Panthers' 10 shots came from five different players including Luna (4 shots, 4 shots on goal), Kandis Orns (3 shots), Haley Diekevers (1 shot, 1 shot on goal), Arianna Diemer (1 shot), and Julia Stidam (1 shot). In goal, Gabriana Bennecke made two saves on 14 shots faced.

Next up on the schedule for Davenport is the GLIAC opener with a trip to No. 24 Saginaw Valley State on Friday. Opening kickoff against the Cardinals is scheduled for 1 p.m. in University Center. The Cardinals improved to 2-1-1 on Sunday with a 1-0 win over Ohio Dominican and have only given up one goal in four matches.
