GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The women's basketball team is back to conference play this week with a road trip to Purdue Northwest on Thursday (6:00 PM ET) and Parkside on Saturday (2:00 PM ET). The Panthers are fresh off a home win against Cornerstone improving them to 5-1 at the DU Student Center this season. The Panthers and Pride will kick off the 2023 GLIAC schedule on Thursday both looking to pick up their first conference win of the season. DU played their first three conference games on the road and will total five straight after this week. The Pride took both meetings last season by scores of 73-65 (OT) in Hammond on Dec. 11 and 68-55 in Grand Rapids on Jan. 27.
Davenport will look to break through against the Rangers on Saturday afternoon. The last time out was the closest they have been to picking up a win on Jan. 29, 2022. Parkside won 67-66 as Alyssa Nelson made a layup at the buzzer for the Rangers. The game featured 16 lead changes and nine ties. Both teams managed 32 points in the paint but the Rangers got out and ran with a 21-7 edge in fast-break points.

Davenport 82, Cornerstone 71 (Dec. 30)
The Davenport women's basketball team made it 12 straight wins over nearby Cornerstone on Friday afternoon with an 82-71 victory at the DU Student Center. The Panthers set a season-high with their 82 points eclipsing their previous high of 73 against Hillsdale back on Nov. 27. They also shot 45.5 percent from the floor and made 11 three-pointers. The team had a successful day at the free throw line shooting 78.6 percent (11-of-14) which was a season-high in that category.
The Panthers really hit the offensive glass in this one with 18 offensive rebounds and turned that into 27 second-chance points. DU also got 28 points off the bench compared to 13 for the Golden Eagles. The Panthers hit their shots during crunch time going 9-of-15 in the fourth quarter from the floor and they also were 5-of-9 behind the arc.
Freshman
Ellie Toney led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds in 29 minutes. She connected on 7-of-8 from the free throw line after her previous high of free throws made was three. Toney also had four assists, a season-high, and four steals, a season-high.
Lillee Gustafson added 14 points and seven boards in 30 minutes going 7-of-11 from the floor.
Jaci Walker had a career-high 12 points to go with four rebounds and three assists.
Scout Nelson added eight points and had a team-high five assists.
