GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - After a disappointing 5-3 loss on Thursday night at Purdue Northwest, the Panthers rebounded nicely with a 5-1 win on Saturday at Patterson Ice Center over the No. 18 Pride. Nathan Gauthier had a fabulous game with 39 saves.
Two of DU's goals were scored on the power play in six attempts, while the Pride went 0-of-4 with the man advantage.
Ryder McMillen scored on the power play in the first period from
Taber Gutschick and
Branwen Pollett.
Heath Drye also scored on the power play in the third period from
Noah Bradburn and
Justin Turner. Drye tallied his eighth goal of the season which puts him in a tie for the most goals in the GLCHL this season.
Jonathan Dubbink scored at 6:43 of the second period from
Brendan Bauer.
Robert McLaughlin gave DU a 3-0 lead at 4:13 of the third period from McMillen. Andrew Remer had the lone goal for the Pride at 5:00 of the third. Bauer concluded the scoring at 19:10 from Dubbink to salt away the victory. Davenport is having a resurgence this season already surpassing last year's win total of six. They are 7-2 overall and 4-0 at Patterson Ice Center. Next up is Aquinas College on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 PM at Southside Ice Arena in Byron Center, Mich. The Panthers and Saints have already split a pair of games earlier this season.
