EAST LANSING, Mich. - Davenport University men's wrestling sent half a dozen wrestlers to the Michigan State Open for the team's second competition of the season as Tyson Emmons finished in sixth place at 141 to lead the Panthers overall.

Emmons won by fall over Dylan Gvillo of Northern Illinois at 6:57 and won a 14-3 major decision over Nathan Jerore of the University of Michigan in the first and second rounds of the 141 open. However, an 8-2 loss by decision against Ja'Kerion Merritt of Central Michigan and a loss by injury default in a rematch against Gvillo in the consolation semifinals forced Emmons to medically forfeit in the fifth-place match - resulting in his sixth-place finish.

Darrin Alward and Evan Wakefield were the other two Panthers to win a round without receiving a bye at 174 and 197 respectively.
