ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College Bulldogs continued their dominance over Davenport on Thursday night with a 9-1 victory at Arrington Ice Arena. The win streak over Davenport extended to 16 games and the Panthers will have another chance tonight to break that streak at Patterson Ice Center.
The first period was pretty quiet as Adrian had the only goal by Dylan Gajewski at the 15:29 mark. Adrian had a 16-5 edge in shots on goal and goaltender
Nathan Gauthier had a solid period in net for the Panthers.
The second period is when the floodgates opened. Gavin Watt scored four times in the period for Adrian and had a natural hat trick with the final three goals of a five-goal period for the Bulldogs. DU was not exactly helping themselves with penalty after penalty. The Bulldogs took full advantage with three power play goals in the period. Sam Spaedt had the other goal in the second period for Adrian.
Dylan Jouppi scored his first goal of the season at the 8:30 mark of the third period to avoid the shutout. The power play goal was assisted by
Brendan Bauer and
Kristers Klavins. Gajewski got his second of the night at 11:34 and Adrian scored their fourth power play goal at 14:11 as team-leading goal scorer Sebastian Smith notched his 12th tally of the season. Justin Jamer scored his third goal of the season to wrap up the scoring at 19:44.
Gauthier was pulled after giving up the fifth goal and played 34 minutes in net with 25 saves.
Sean Andrus replaced him and stopped 13 of 17 shots he faced.
