Program Posts 100 Wins for the Academic Year:
As of Friday, Feb. 10, the Esports program at Davenport University posted their 100th win of the year. This milestone comes off of the back of what is looking to be a dominant season from the Rainbow Six rosters as well as the continued success of the Counter Strike roster. Davenport Esports currently sports a 69.4% win rate and looks to continue their success throughout the rest of the semester on the way to a 150-win academic year.
Rainbow Six Division 1 wins University of Kentucky LAN
On Feb. 5, the Davenport Division 1 Rainbow Six team took home the win at the University of Kentucky Rainbow Six Invitational. After one day of group play and then playoffs, DU only posted a loss to the University of Georgia in groups, followed by revenge against that same UGA team to lock in the #1 seed for day 2. On day 2, DU only had Murray State and the University of Cincinnati in their way, defeating both 2-0 and 2-1 respectively. This is the fourth LAN victory for Davenport Esports with previous LAN wins being for League of Legends in fall 2019, Rocket League in spring 2022 and Counter Strike in fall 2022. Rainbow Six Division 1 now sets their sites on winning NACE Varsity Premier this semester with another trip to an in-person LAN at the end of the season and the hopes of bringing home a national championship.
Davenport to host first GLIAC Esports tournament
Davenport Esports is proud to be the inaugural host for the GLIAC Esports Tournament happening February 18th - 19th. DU will be facing off against some familiar faces in Grand Valley State, Michigan Tech, Ferris State, and Purdue Northwest. The action will start at 10:00 am on the 18th with Rocket League and Smash Bros taking on MTU and Purdue NW respectively. Spectators are encouraged to come and cheer on the DU teams in the spectator areas located in rooms 124-126 and 218 in the Maine College of Business building on the Lettinga campus.
