CALEDONIA, Mich. - The Davenport track and field teams got the chance to host the DU Invitational on Friday and Saturday as a warm up for the GLIAC Outdoor Championships to be held next week at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. On the men's side, there were several notable performances including a double win for
Brendan LaLonde in the 100 meters (10.62 - personal best) and 200 meters (21.87). Other first place finishes included the 4x100 relay consisting of
Shawn Sims, Marshall Brooks, LaLonde, and
Noah Dooley (41.27),
Bryce Albrecht in the pole vault (15' 8.25"), and
Noah Evers in the shot put (58' 5.75"). Evers did hit a provisional mark but was almost three feet short of his best this season which ranks fifth in Division II. Evers was also able to win the discus with a provisional mark of 165' 8". He is currently 13th in that event in Division II.
Bryce Monroe finished second in the shot put with a toss of 50' 6.75" and third in the discus at 151' 7".
Nick Ruvalcaba placed second in the pole vault clearing 15' 2.25".
Collin Graham was able to place fourth in the javelin with a throw of 135' 11". While the women's team was not able to win any events, there were some second place finishes.
Lisa Wangler in the hammer had a throw of 165' 7".
Deidre Lorton in the triple jump traveled a distance of 32' 8.25".
Mackenzie Brigham in the long jump sailed to a distance of 17' 9". The 4x100 relay consisting of
Julia Tuuri,
Leialani Akalaonu, Shantynae Atwater, and
Mya Staczek clocked in at 48.99 seconds.
Stacia Rispress was able to finish fourth in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.41 seconds.
