Four student-athletes hit national qualifier marks at GVSU Mike Lints Open

ALLENDALE, Mich. - After missing out last weekend due to the snow, the Panther track and field teams were back in action at the GVSU Mike Lints Open on Saturday. They were not rusty at all and turned in a few fantastic performances.

Nik Shilling placed third in the mile and set the school record with a time of 4:16.45. In the pole vault, a pair of Panthers were able to tie the school record. Bryce Albrecht and Nick Ruvalcaba also hit a NCAA Provisional with a height of 15' 9.25". They are both now ranked No. 22 in Division II.

In addition to those feats, there were two others who were able to hit the national qualifier mark. Noah Evers won the shot put and did so with a throw of 60' 3". It is the second-best mark in Division II. Erin Dorn on the women's side won the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.73 and that is good for fifth in Division II this season.

Continuing with top results on the women's side, Julia Tuuri placed third in the 60 meters with a time of 8.03. Erin Boettcher was able to finish fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 26.05. Kay-Lee McSwain won the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 9.02. The 4x400 relay consisting of Boettcher, Haley Esser, Tuuri, and Dorn won the event with a time of 3:59.75. Annabelle Schafer was third place in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 5' 1". Madison Hernandez won the weight throw with a toss of 46' 11.5".

On the men's side, Solomon King had a stellar performance in the 60 meters with a win coming in 6.8 seconds. He hit the provisional mark and still ranks ninth in Division II based on his result back in December at the SVSU Holiday Open. Drew Sharrar placed second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:46.39. Adam Jorgensen was able to finish third in the long jump with a distance of 22' 0.75". Bryce Monroe was able to finish fourth in the shot put and hit a provisional mark at 55' 4.25". He did not improve on the mark set back in December at the GVSU Holiday Open and currently ranks eighth in Division II.
