GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's basketball team came out in the first quarter on Sunday and looked like they were going to potentially run away with a victory over Ohio Dominican. DU led 21-6 after the first quarter shooting 7-of-17 from the floor and 6-of-7 at the free throw line. ODU battled back in the second quarter as Davenport hit a cold streak. Ohio Dominican outscored Davenport 16-5 in the quarter and made it a game again down 26-22 at the break.
The third quarter and fourth quarter saw Davenport scored 10 points in each while ODU managed to score 31 second-half points to come away with the comeback win. Davenport shot 33.3 percent in the third quarter and 23.5 percent in the fourth quarter. Gabby Stare had a big second half for Ohio Dominican and led all scorers with 16 points going 7-of-15 from the floor with seven rebounds. Brynn Mullet added 15 points and six rebounds while going 6-of-6 at the free throw line.
Davenport finished 10-of-12 at the free throw line as
Jaci Walker went 4-of-4 and finished with a team-high 10 points. She also led the team with eight rebounds and blocked two shots.
Lillee Gustafson added nine points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Nevaeh Williams scored seven points and led the team with four steals.
Isabel Lindo contributed six points and also had six rebounds.
The Panthers (0-2) will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 15 with a road trip to No. 5 Ashland University (Ohio) beginning at 5:30 PM.
