Panthers' season comes to a close after semifinal loss

MARQUETTE, Mich. - Davenport University women's soccer was knocked out of the GLIAC Tournament after a 4-1 loss on the road to No. 1-seeded Northern Michigan, ending an impressive run by the Panthers.

Although DU faced a one-goal deficit at halftime, the Wildcats immediately built on their lead with an early score in the second and followed it up with two more scores to take a 4-0 lead. After a corner-kick attempt for the Panthers was sent into the box, chaos ensued as Izabelle Olsson managed to sneak in a goal (83') for her second this year and third of her career - helping DU avoid the shutout.

Playing a tough team on the road, the Panthers managed a .625 shot-on-goal clip (5-of-8) but couldn't convert on most attacking opportunities. Elizabeth Wolter made two saves against NMU's 15 total shot attempts.

The loss closed DU's 2024 record at 8-4-8 overall after multiple historical firsts were accomplished in Head Coach Joe White's second season, highlighting the potential for more success next year.
