MARQUETTE, Mich. - It was the end of the road for the 2023-24 women's basketball season on Saturday at Northern Michigan. The Panthers battled tough but fell 64-54 to the Wildcats. The second and third quarters were where the game swung in favor of Northern Michigan. After a tie in the first quarter at 9-9, the Wildcats outscored the Panthers 23-14 in the second quarter. They then outscored the Panthers 22-12 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead. Davenport saved one of their best quarters of the season for last as they outscored NMU 19-10 in the final 10 minutes.
Northern Michigan shot the ball poorly giving credit to the Panther defense. NMU was 33.9 percent from the floor which was the third lowest shooting percentage given up by DU this season. Davenport shot 33.8 percent but could not find their touch from deep going 1-of-15. The free throw line was a big discrepancy as the Wildcats went 21-of-31 compared to 9-of-18 for DU.
Makaylee Kuhn led all scorers with 19 points for NMU.
Makenna Bryant, playing in her final game as a senior at DU, led the team with 13 points off the bench. She was 5-of-11 from the floor and also had four rebounds, two steals, and one assist.
Ellie Toney added nine points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
