Panthers Suffer 4-2 Loss to Bearcats on Thursday

Box Score GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport University women's tennis team put a pause on GLIAC action on Thursday evening, taking on Southwest Baptist at the Grand Rapids Racquet Club. The Panthers (11-7, 0-2 GLIAC) fell 4-2 to the Bearcats (3-10, 0-0 GLVC).

DU got out to an early 1-0 advantage as they secured the doubles points. Slotted at No. 2 doubles Skye Vandeleur and Hermon Mikael took down Paula Ballesteros and Giselle Garcia 6-2 for the Panthers. The duo has now picked up 10 wins in the 2023-24 season.

Isabella Carofano and Louise Hosking clinched the doubles point for DU, defeating Polina Paunova and Leticia Luiz 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Vandeleur picked up the lone singles point of the day for the Panthers at No. 4 singles as she picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Paunova.

The Panthers will resume GLIAC play against Purdue Northwest on Saturday (March 30) at the MVP SportsPlex in Grand Rapids, Mich. with first serve scheduled for 1 p.m.
