SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Davenport University women's tennis team concluded its trip to Michigan's upper peninsula with a 6-1 loss to Lake Superior State on Saturday (April 13) afternoon.
All three doubles matchups were tightly contested, but the Lakers came out on top in all three, taking the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the match. At the No. 1 position, Amy Bloch and Angelica Motano fell 7-5. Skye Vandeleur and Hermon Mikael (No. 2) as well as Louise Hosking and Isabella Carofano (No. 3) dropped their matchups 6-4.
Kumiko Yamaguchi secured the lone point of the match for the Panthers, as she took down Martina Oviedo in a three-set thriller (6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (7)). The junior has now picked up six wins in the 2023-24 campaign.
