Match One vs. Southwest Oklahoma State
Result: L, 3-0 (20-25, 24-26, 19-25)
How it Happened
The Panthers got out to a hot start in the first set, getting out to a 10-5 lead following a 3-0 rally. Davenport maintained its advantage until late in the set. After going down for the first time in the match (16-15), DU answered with a quick 3-1 run, which was capped by a kill from freshman outside hitter Rachel Youngblood to regain the lead. However, the Bulldogs responded with a 7-0 rally of their own, going up 24-18 over the Panthers and eventually taking the first set of the season 25-20.

Again, the Panthers came out hot to start the second set, this time going up 11-3. Turnquist got the scoring going with a pair of kills to start the set, while SWOSU registered five consecutive attack errors shortly after, allowing DU to get ahead early. Leading 14-12 midway through the set, a kill from Youngblood set in motion a 6-1 for the Panthers, giving them a 19-13 edge over the Bulldogs. SWOSU slowly climbed its way back into the match, with the score eventually being tied at 23 apiece. Savannah Hall set up Youngblood for a kill, which put Davenport in a position to win its first set of the 2024 season leading 24-23. However, the Bulldogs registered three straight points and took the set 26-24.

A 5-1 rally in the third set propelled the Panthers to an 11-8 advantage. A few moments later, Abby Alan registered back-to-back kills as DU maintained its three-point lead (14-11) over the Bulldogs. With the set tied 19-19, SWOSU finished on a 6-0 run, taking home the 25-19 victory and sweeping DU in its season opener.

Match Two vs. Trevecca Nazarene
Result: W, 3-2 (20-25, -20, -23, 25-27, -11)
How it Happened
A kill from Kaitlyn Marsh to start the match set in motion a 6-1 rally to give Davenport the early lead in the first set. However, moments later the Trojans put together an 8-1 run of their own and took a 12-10 lead. With the score sitting at 19-18 in favor of TNU, the Trojans finished the set on a 6-2 run to take the first set over DU 25-20.

The Panthers won their first set of the season in the second over the Trojans. It was back and forth the entire set, as neither team had led by more than two points and the Panthers led by one late (20-19). However, the Panthers finally pulled away from the Trojans, going on a 5-1 rally to win the set 25-20. Youngblood had a pair of kills in the final stretch, including the final kill to seal the set.

Yet again in the third set, Davenport dominated early, starting off on a 9-0 rally to take the commanding lead early. Marsh led the charge in the early stretch with a pair of kills. The Trojans slowly climbed their way back into the set, eventually trimming the Panther lead to one (15-14). DU was able to hold off TNU, as Turnquist recorded four kills in the Panthers' final nine points to get the 25-23 victory and 2-1 lead in the match.

Trailing 18-15 late in the fourth set, DU went on an 8-2 run, which featured two kills from both Turnquist and Youngblood, to put the Panthers ahead of the Trojans 23-20. However, TNU scored five of the final six points and took down Davenport 27-25 to force a fifth and final set.

In the final set, DU got out to an 11-6 advantage, with Youngblood leading the way early on with four kills through that stretch. Turnquist ended her career night with two of the final three Davenport points and the Panthers took the final set 15-11.
