AUGUSTA, Mich. - The Davenport women's golf team hosted the Davenport Invitational at Stonehedge North Golf Course over the past two days. The Panthers were able to tie for fourth with Wayne State totaling 618 strokes. DU was six strokes behind the Warriors after the first round (314-308), but shot 304 on Sunday to pull even. Northwood took third (615), Saginaw Valley State was second (611), and Lewis won the tournament (602).
On Saturday,
Lauren Gervais paced the team with an even-par 72, including a two-under par on the front nine.
Melissa Walker carded a 79 and had birdie on the par-4, 16th hole.
Venetia Chap shot 80,
Hannah Robinson scored an 83, and
ThaiLee Gerding rounded it out at 89.
Gervais continued her fine play on Sunday and shot a one-under par 71 to win the medalist honors by one stroke over Kendall Farm of Lewis. Walker was able to shoot 75 and had a birdie on the par-4, 10th hole. Gerding turned it around with a second-round score of 78 and totaled three birdies on her scorecard. Chap fired an 80 with two birdies on the back nine. Robinson shot 81 and finished in a tie for 40th. Walker tied for 13th at 10-over par. Chap tied for 29th at 16-over par. Gerding tied for 47th at 23-over par.
