The Davenport football team will have the luxury of playing their final four games of the season at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex and that stretch starts on October 25 with a noon kickoff against Roosevelt University. The Lakers will be making their first trip to Caledonia and the Panthers will be playing at home for just the second time this season. DU has dropped three games this season, but two of those were by a combined three points against Truman State and Michigan Tech. DU routed Wayne State 49-14 last Saturday to get back into the win column. The Panthers had a season-high 544 offensive yards, eclipsing the previous high of 459 at Truman State. DU threw for a season-high 330 yards with D'Wan Mathis throwing for a career-high 285 yards as a Panther. Roosevelt dropped their fifth straight game with a 42-21 loss at home against Northern Michigan. The Wildcats snapped a 28-game losing streak and rushed for a program-record 538 yards and six touchdowns. Roosevelt threw for 310 yards and three scores. Tony Chahino completed 22-of-42 passes and connected with Norion Espadron five times for 102 yards.

Cephus Harris paved the way for a total of 214 rushing yards by the Panthers at Wayne State. He carried 20 times for 133 yards (fourth 100-yard game of the season) and tied the single-game school record with four touchdowns on the ground. He tied Mike Ivy who also scored four times at Kentucky Christian on Sept. 3, 2016 in the program's second-ever contest. Harris also broke the single-season rushing touchdown record and sits at 12. The previous mark was Caleef Jenkins with eight in 2022. Nick Pulley and Jackson Reisbig each recorded their first career interceptions in the contest and the defense limited the Warriors to 11 first downs and 175 total yards of offense. Jeremiah Sterling also had his first rushing touchdown of the season (four yards) on DU's final scoring drive with 7:34 left in the fourth quarter. The 49 points were the most scored by DU in the all-time series with Wayne State.

Roosevelt opened up the season with a 23-21 win over Quincy, but have struggled over the last couple of weeks. They have been outscored 163-31 in their last three games to start GLIAC action. The Wildcats attempted just one pass last week and carried the ball 71 times. Noah Dobert rushed for 243 yards and three scores, while Jahi Wood carried the ball 28 times for 233 yards and two touchdowns. Cam Davis led the Lakers with 57 rushing yards on 19 carries. Brandon Harvey led the Lakers with nine tackles, including five solo stops. Kamal Mukarram added six tackles and a tackle for loss of one yard. Davis is currently sixth in the GLIAC with 64 rushing yards per game and has two rushing touchdowns. He also is second in all-purpose yards per game at 129.8. Zach Zella has played in six games at quarterback and ranks second in the conference with 189.3 passing yards per game with eight touchdowns. Norion Espadron enters this week ranked second in the league with 67.2 receiving yards per game with one touchdown. Mukarram checks in at fifth in the GLIAC with 8.3 tackles per game. Harvey is also ranked seventh in that category at 7.8 per contest.

The Panthers and Lakers have met once last season as members of NCAA Division II. The Lakers were previously Robert Morris University (Ill.) and the name changed to Roosevelt when Robert Morris dissolved in 2019 and Roosevelt acquired the school. The Panthers  played one game versus Robert Morris on Sept. 1, 2018. DU won the contest 44-7 and dominated the stats with a 495-95 edge in total yards. Deondre Ford threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns for the Panthers. Nate Couturier caught three passes for 87 yards including two scores. DU prevailed 19-14 on the road last October 26. Preston Smith caught a 24-yard TD pass from Mike O'Horo in the second quarter. Antjuan Collins changed the game with an 87-yard kickoff return for a score to start the second half. DU got a safety with 27 seconds left in the game by Deeb Alawan. The Panthers outgained the Lakers, 325-156, and held RU to -21 rushing yards.
