First Period Fireworks telll the story in 7-4 loss at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - No. 12 Hope scored five first-period goals and used that fast start to propel them to a 7-4 win over No. 25 Davenport on Saturday night at Griff's Icehouse West in GL6 action.

The Panthers were able to stay within striking distance with three goals in the first period as they trailed 5-3 after 20 minutes. Anthony Kauffman, Zach Schneider, and Jack Kelly were the goal scorers for the Panthers.

Matthew Carlson netted his fifth goal of the season on the power play at 1:30 of the third period to make it 6-4. Hope's Ryan Jaros scored his ninth goal of the season at 6:11 on the power play to increase their lead.

Branwen Pollett had a team-high eight penalty minutes for DU. Hope has a very successful power play going 3-of-6, compared to 1-of-4 for Davenport. Brendan Bauer had a pair of assists on the night. Kyler Lowden stopped 26-of-33 shots in net for DU.

The two teams will resume their two-game series on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 9 PM inside Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids.
